A bit of honesty...

I fucking hate the term hipster. It's true. I hate what it says about music lovers, I hate how there is no clear definition of what it is, and I even hate how it rolls off the tong.

But more than any of these things, I hate how it is used as an excuse by those whos musical pallet consists entirely of JLS and Leona Lewis to deride people who just once in a while want to listen to the Stones or the Bob Marley.

I mean sure you can be cool and listen to Brittney Spears if you really want to (I know I do), but if we are going to be completely honest then you have to admit that most people never would have listened to that blonde haired hillbilly if she hadn't been hot.

Where most people run into trouble, actually scratch that, where all people run into trouble is when they start listening to music just because their friends are listening to it and become afraid to try something a little bit new.

This is true of all different kinds of people, from fourteen year old girls to fourty year old men, who's music taste can begin to become a little bit stale after the fiftieth listen of that Bob Dylan/ Cheryl Cole cover.

If this blog is going to do anything it is going to try and get the two people who are probably going to read it to try something new that they, to use something of a cliché, probably never knew they liked in the first place.

Yes, I am probably going to pointless and pretentiously pontifícate on everything from the new PJ Harvey álbum to whatever the hell was everyone thinking when they brought Cheryl Cole´s last album, but this is the internet and if you disagree, feel free to start a counter blog on this very website and tell people to stick to their guns.

I didn't think so.
