Venue: Manchester Academy 3
Hi all,
Well firstly welcome to my first official blog post, and secondly thank you for reading. Last Wednesday I had the absolute pleasure of attending a Surfer Blood gig. Firstly I'd like to say that the venue, in terms of decor, wasn't the best I've been too but the sound and lighting system was brilliant. The music was extremely clear and well balanced, combined with the timing of the lights system made for an excellent experience.
Now on to the band... They were absolutely brilliant but with all that said their lineup was different and their set a little short. The gig in total last approximately fifty minutes and was mostly songs from their debut album Astro Coast but a few new numbers were also played. As expected most of the crowd were very chilled out, as was I, but there were a few fanatic 'head-bangers' enjoying themselves. The lineup consisted of: John Paul Pitts (vocals/lead guitar); Thomas Fekete (lead guitar); and Tyler Schwarz (drums). Unfortunately Brian Black (bass) and Marcos Marchesani (percussion) were missing and a replacement bass player, who's name I didn't catch (but who you can see in the picture below), was used and although he was very good I hope to see the others back on tour soon.
All in all a very enjoyable and relaxing gig... I hope to see these guys again very soon!
Thanks for reading,
Alexei
